Torture Still Routine in Iraqi Jails

Iraqi authorities routinely torture prisoners, a leading human rights group said Tuesday, citing examples of abuse which will sound all too familiar to those who suffered under Saddam Hussein.

So nothing has changed...

No one is asking you for anything other than to ackowledge that these people deserve a fair day in court, just like anyone else.

Let him spout his pathetic redneck garbage, Alice. He's too fucking stupid to know that most of those "detainees" in the Iraqi prisons aren't "terrorists," but just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. If this weren't the case, we'd have been able to extract enough intel by now to have ended the insurgency. Because he also lacks a moral backboane, he refuses to acknowledge that we are the new Saddam. Give someone like NC the power, and he'll become a brutal dictator in a month. He's just like those he claims to hate.

If we are going to export our form of government to Iraq, we must also export our form of justice. Wouldn't that be the patriotic and american thing to do?

Aimmy, please ask yourself: Did the Iraqi people ask the US to invade their country and overthrow their government? The answer is that they didn't; we did it for our own reasons. So we must not ever say things like "If a few dumbass Iraqis are in the "wrong place at the wrong time", I'm not going to shed a tear for them. If they've got to sit in a jail and be stripped naked, have their picture taken while our tax dollars pay a magistrate's salary to sort out there predicament - tough. Life isn't fair." How dare you? Please don't call yourself an American if you believe such things, since such beliefs are not the American way. We believe in liberty and justice for all. Remember? The things I hear coming out of so many of my countrymens' mouths anymore make me grieve the loss of our national sense of decency.

BTW, yes, the Iraqis are paying the US. You are forgetting the reparations owd us from GW1. Until the US was shamed in to putting them into abatement, they were making monthly payments to us each month

I smell Patriot in drag.

Thanks for handling that one Sky. I'm a bit busy searching for goat's milk yogurt at the moment.

I think "aimmy" misunderstood what I meant by "export". Using this word doesn't always mean an exchange of goods for a price. I'm sorry I didn't make this implicit.

Sky - why are you so obsessed with fraternity pranks? Why don't you visit Castro's prisons and observe some real torture.

Sky Wrote the following on 01/25/2005 4:02 PM :
Fraternity pranks? You really must be a drunk. What the fuck do you know about "Castro's prisons" -- beyond what you get our of Soldier of Fortune magazine, of course? The survey says! ..... Nothing.
