Well I started my new consulting job today. It was about what I expected. Not bad, but after about six hours I realized, "Damn, I have to do this tomorrow too!" I just have to get back into the swing of things I guess. I do enjoy what I do, so it's not torture at all, it's enjoyable. My new co-workers seem nice, and I have my very own cell, er, cubicle, fairly good sized, with 6 foot walls. I've got a decent computer, a nice wooden desk, lots of shelf space, and a phone with tons of buttons. However, the desk is devoid of any supplies, the chair isn't that comfortable, and I don't have a waste basket (I'll have to scout one out tomorrow morning).  They do have free coffee, that's a huge plus.

Thanks everyone for wishing me luck! Everything seems to work it self out. I could have taken much lower paying jobs, but I decided to stick it out. I didn't want to be saying to myself, "I worked for 15 years just to take a job for what I was making 10 years ago!" It is a huge relief though; now knowing that I have a decent income and can easily pay my bills.

I just called unemployment to get my last check and it seems that it ran out, so this was perfect timing!

20 some years ago I was unemployed for 9 months... absolutely dreadfull. Don't wish it on anybody ever! Couple of days and you are "settled in" and hopefully smooth sailing from then on! That first week after a stretch of unemployment is difficult indeed, bit like first week at a new school.

The hardest part of not having work, is all the applications, appointments, and job interviews are the absolute hardest part of it all. After that its easy street.
