I would be very surprised if the U.S. gave Rumsfeld up to the germans to be tried as a war criminal. The Bush administration is opposed to the World Court, so I doubt it would recognize a German court's jurisdiction. I believe this is a symbolic move.

Yes Sky, I agree about it being a symbolic move, but they (CCR) only asked for an investigation at the moment. I'm just curious what is going to happen, as the same was tried in Belgium a year of so ago, and the US government threatened and shoved etc, to force the government to change the law. Press here seems to think this could be a much bigger stink since the Germans have a lot to say in Europe, and they are not so easily pushed arround. We will see what happens.

For the sake of saying it, I'm for the world court. I think the US should be held accountable like any other country. If you play on the world stage, the world should be your judge. This country should not be above the law (although it wants to be).
