Powell Rejects Ukraine Election, Calls for Action - Secretary of State Colin Powell said on Wednesday the United States did not accept the results of the disputed presidential election in Ukraine as legitimate and called for immediate action.

Of course he has problems with this... he wants a US friendly puppet government. Talk about stupidity: We won't be your friend unless you get a different leader. Watch... you just wait... they'll be finding nuclear weapons and WMDs there next.

I think Powell's right on this one and the U.S. needs to take a postion. Putin really wants and needs Yanukovich, since he's in the Russian's pocket. Putin wants keep some long-handed control over the former Soviet states and he's already shown that he has no problem with returning to some of the old authoritarian ways. So it is possble that the Ukrainian election was rigged. The Ukrainian people have taken to the streets in protest. It is rather ironic that the the Bush government would be forced to take a postion on rigged elections. I wonder what our response would have been if Russia's foreign minister has rejected the results of our 2000 or 2004 elections?
