The Irrepressible Spirit of Paralympic Snowboarder Keith Gabel - The Atlantic - The Atlantic
- By the time the snowboarder Keith Gabel had his left leg amputated following an industrial accident, he had already experienced considerable trauma: childhood homelessness, parental drug abuse, and witnessing his stepfather’s suicide. Following the amputation, however, Gabel had only one question: “How soon can I snowboard?” Today, he holds multiple world championship titles and a goal of sharing his story through public speaking. In this short documentary, Gabel and his father reflect on how a lifetime of adversity has inspired him to succeed against all the odds.
