N.J. unemployment benefits cut to 26 weeks, from 99 weeks, for first-time filers | NJ.com - Starting tomorrow, anyone who files for unemployment can count on receiving a lot less help from the government.With an emergency federal extension expiring tonight, New Jersey residents who file for unemployment will be eligible for only up to 26 weeks of benefits, down from 99 weeks, state Labor Department officials said today.
