Arctic May Hold 90 Billion Barrels of Oil, U.S. Says - The Arctic may hold 90 billion barrels of oil, more than all the known reserves of Nigeria, Kazakhstan and Mexico combined, and enough to supply U.S. demand for 12 years, the U.S. Geological Survey said.One-third of the undiscovered oil is in Alaskan territory, the agency found in a study released today. By contrast, a geologic formation beneath the North Pole claimed by Russian scientists last year probably holds just 1.2 percent of the Arctic's crude, the U.S. report showed.

Oh boy, lets go there and destroy the arctic for those precious drops of oil! Probably will take all 100 billion barrels in oil to get it out in the first place.

Grasping at straws? And with "US Says" do we mean the White House? Because in that case it's a trap for the Democrats, since they will be against it (and for a good reason) but then the repubs can claim see, it's all the democrats fault whaaa! and the stupid rednecks will believe it all!

If my going up there and clubbing baby seals myself will lower gas prices, then I would do it.

Or they could make cars run on natural gas and Louisiana could get rich

I think clubbing Nony would drop prices before seals. Perhaps Nony is a seal?

Cars can run on natural gas CC, all it takes is a special tank and some additional hardware. Total cost should be around $1200 installed for a good instalation. The BIG problem is the lack of infrastructure for distribution. (no tank stations!)

I know Honda has some model of Civic sold in California that can run off of it. I take back my previous comment though, if most cars start running on natural gas, our governor might be accused of having WMD.

But thanks for the info - I had no clue gas/diesel engines could be converted. I know on certain auto websites, some claim to sell E85 conversion kits.

I used to live in Sunrise, Fl. Sunrise has its own gas company, and all of their city vehicles run on Natural Gas
