Look out for dangerous lionfish - Researchers say they'll likely show up here
Bahamian divers considered the first sightings of lionfish at their reefs a novelty, a rare chance to see the magnificently plumed fish far from its native waters.
Five years later, they want them gone.
“The first lionfish sighting in the Bahamas was in 2004,” said Lad Akins, special projects director for the Reef Environmental Education Foundation. “Since, the population has gone from a few individuals to an incredible explosion in abundance and distribution.”
