So.... I bought a house. This is what has been keeping me occupied for the last few months. It's a small cape with a few acres of land, mostly woods, bordering an apple orchard (beyond that a state reservoir - to the left of the image). On either side of me are houses with garages larger than my entire house. I took a walk today to survey the land and couldn't see the house from the back end of the property, pretty damn nice. This place needs some work but it'll do.

Congrats! Looks nice indeed. Who needs a huge house ... just more to clean and maintain.

Mhmm I'm renting out a renovated appartment with a 1275 square feet 3 bedroom appartment with roofterrace for 400 euros at the moment. God Bless Europe!

Well, I closed on the house today. So I guess it's all mine (well, the bank's... but).

Nony - I believe your apartment is larger than my house! This place is only about 1250 square feet of living spce (two full baths and a full basement that don't count). It needs a lot of work: insulation, new windows, new furnace, needs to be hooked up to city sewer and water (right now it has septic and well - both of which need updating), paint inside and out, some minor repairs, electrical updating (old screw fuses), floors refinished (oak hardwood throughout), and a lot more I'm forgetting.

I'm uploading some pictures of the back yard and some of the woods. Although it won't do it justice. The pictures were from a few years back when my friends and I were building a few bike ramps when I was really into mountain biking (also when I was actually into running my site, mountainbikemadness.com). You can see my (now defunct) green Cobra in the driveway in a few shots.

I think NeoCon can testify to the land - he's been here enough, although mostly inside. I'll try to get some pictures of the land before it snows - I'll have to take another walk with my camera (I lent it to a co-worker who's in Ecuador for a few weeks).

Now that I own the place I can do a lot with it, rather than letting it sit and rot like it has been for the last 10 years. The payments aren't too much more than the rent I was paying, so I should be able to save a bit and still put some money back into the place; it really needs some care.

And no, NeoCon, I won't be inviting 10 ghetto residents from North Hartford to live with me - rent free.
