I however do not remember the 1950's Mike Hammer series. I cannot remember a bad character portrayal.

Knotts was the only actor ever to win the best actor Emmy four straight years for his portrayal of Deputy Barney Fife on the The Andy Griffith Show. Everyone from five to 100 knows Barney Fife.

The reason you cannot remember it, was that the Mike Hammer series did not air in the 1950s. It ran for one season on CBS in 1984-85 and was summarily cancelled because it sucked so bad. Mickey Spillane, the hack pulp writer created Mike Hammer in the 1950s.
What's that cranium crowded with again?

NeoCon Wrote the following on 02/26/2006 8:03 PM : I forgot about the "The Nightstalker". Their were so few good shows in the 70's. If I remember it correctly he played a reporter that was always chasing vampire stories.
Yawn Wrote the following on 02/26/2006 8:30 PM : Barney Fife was a miserable Deputy Sheriff. Mayberry would have been a much safer community with a different Deputy. Andy Griffith was the brains of this operation with a bumbling Deputy.
Many akin Barney Fife with another failuer, Jimmy Carter.

Now let me make one thin peeeeeerfectly clear to all of you. I was the original NeoCon, embracing good wholesome American values like rushing off half cocked, without accurate information, on some crazy scheme or the other. I was a strict law and order fella. There was no wishy-washy with ol' Barney Fife, I can tell ay that! Like the NeoCon of today, I was shrill, pedantic, misinformed, and comically stupid. That's why Andy only gave me one bullet and made me carry it in my shirt pocket.
But you know boys and girls, there's a lesson to be learned in all of thes. Never forget when you walk into the polling booth to do your civic duty, that you have two choices. You can vote for someone like me or someone like Andy. Now if Andy is more your cup of tea, then you gotta vote Democrat.
